The AAAA record type

The AAAA record type is used to hold IPv6 addresses.

Examples #

Here, we query for AAAA records of the domain “aaaa-example.lookup.dog”. The result is a record containing the localhost IPv6 address, “::1”.

$ dog AAAA aaaa-example.lookup.dog
AAAA aaaa-example.lookup.dog. 1h00m00s   ::1
