The A record type

The A record type is used to hold IPv4 addresses.

Examples #

Here, we query for A records of the domain “a-example.lookup.dog”. The result is a record with an IPv4 address, “10.20.30.40”.

$ dog A a-example.lookup.dog
A a-example.lookup.dog. 1h00m00s   10.20.30.40
